About Us

The Cornell Opera Society is an undergraduate organization that is dedicated to providing opportunities for students to learn about, celebrate, and perform opera. Our goal is to make a significant contribution toward opera education at Cornell and to provide a space where students can come together and share their passion for opera. With this objective in mind, we welcome anyone who is interested in the art form, from major fans to those who are just discovering opera for the first time. In order to provide members who like to sing with a concrete opportunity to develop their vocal and theatrical skills, our society is interested in producing a show towards the end of every semester: an Aria Night every fall, and a staged opera every spring. The Cornell Opera Society would also like to sponsor special events to enhance our members' knowledge, such as trips to see local operas and viewings of Metropolitan Opera broadcasts at local movie theaters.
